About our Bishop

Welcome!
I’m John Schol, bishop of the Baltimore-Washington Conference.
When I think of an adventure, I not only think of the greatness of the ultimate destination, but the rush the journey gives you as you make your way there.
Being a disciple of Christ is a journey—an adventure. It has peaks and valleys, but we can find the greatness of the ultimate destination in what God makes of us on the way. As disciples, we personally encounter God’s grace through Christ and are nurtured through the Spirit, becoming mature disciples through the faith community.
Spiritual leaders and congregations— big and small— can make a difference in their communities and all around the world by integrating the Discipleship Adventure— an equipping tool designed to help others along their faith journeys.
Just like in Acts 2 when Peter preached on the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, a new community began to form and those people engaged in all aspects of the Discipleship Adventure by: worshipping God, connecting in fellowship with one another, developing their faith through Bible study, serving like Christ in a community and sharing their faith with others.
Celebrate, Connect, Develop, Serve and Share are your tools along this great journey of faith. I encourage you to explore all of the resources available through this Web site as a way to expand and strengthen our ministry as we adventure together.
Keep the faith!
